What Sort Of Pet Supplies Should You Buy For Cats And Why? And Where Should You Buy These Items From?

If you have a cat, you need to get pet supplies geared at cats.  You may think that a cat is a very easy animal to keep – which it actually is – but they still need a whole lot of things.  Let’s take a look at some of the bare essentials you need for your cat, so that you are well prepared for the arrival of your furry bundle of joy.

What You Need for a Cat and Why

There are a few basic things you need to purchase for a cat:

Two collars.  One with a bell (so that the birds get a chance to escape once your cat goes out hunting) and a flea collar.
A cat litter tray and cat litter sand.  You should get a closed one, since this will reduce the smell in your house, but you may not want to put the door on until your cat is slightly bigger.
Cat toys.  Cats are very playful little creatures and if you don’t get them any toys, they will find them in your furniture.
A cat bed.  If you buy a cat bed, you will probably find that your cat will fastidiously ignore it and prefer to sleep on your favourite coat.  However, if you decide not to get a cat bed, your cat will be stressed and annoyed and pretend that it doesn’t want to sleep anywhere other than in a cat bed.  Cats are like that.
A scratch post.  It’s the same as with the bed.  Get a post and your cat will ignore it.  Choose not to get a post and your cat is likely to sharpen its nails on your carpet, furniture and wall paper. Again, that’s just what cats do.
Food.  It is usually best to always have dry food available for your cat (cats don’t overeat) and to give them some wet food once a day.

Where to Buy Cat Supplies From

If you want to know where to get all these pet supplies from, the answer would be the pet store.  You can easily purchase these items for lower prices from supermarkets or convenience stores, but you will find that the quality is not very good.  Furthermore, these items can potentially be very unsafe, presenting potential hazards to your cat.  It is always best to spend a little bit more money and thereby make sure that your cat will be well taken care of.
